What is a Qualified Medical Expense?*
|
|
|
You can pay for a variety of expenses from an HSA. Sometimes this includes items and services normally excluded on major health insurance plans. Some examples are below.
• Health insurance deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance
• Prescription drugs
• Dental work (including crowns, braces, bridges, etc.)
• Vision care (including Lasik surgery, contacts, glasses)
• Long-term care
• Certain psychological and psychiatric treatment
• Medically-related lodging and transportation
*An HSA must be established before incurring a qualified expense. Expenses incurred prior to establishing an HSA are not eligible.
